This is a poem on a subject I feel passionately about.
Nothing is the Same
©The Strawberry Post
I had to leave you there, though I wanted you to stay,
Never wanted to let you go, but I had to go away.
I tried really hard to keep you, here with me,
I searched and searched, but I just couldn’t see.
Nobody was happy, to let me keep you near,
I’d tell them you were good, but they just didn’t hear.
Now you sit alone, while I am by myself,
I wish I could have kept you, but I have no real wealth.
You were my everything, it’s me I’ll always blame,
I hope you’ll never forget me, now nothing is the same.
-So many people have to leave their pets behind in animal shelters when moving into rented flats and houses on the UK. Landlords aren’t keen on pets and so many loved family members have to be left behind as families struggle to make that heart-breaking decision between having a roof or keeping their pet. Almost all pet owners take good care of their pets and take care of the homes they live in too. Nobody should be without a pet if they want one, they not only bring us comfort and happiness but they bring us love and help many people with mental health conditions cope better.
Do you like this poem? What do you think about the terrible no-pets housing issue that now exists, do you agree with many landlords or feel they should allow some pets? Let me know what you think in the comments below 🙂
Lovely words… But I can’t comment on your situation as to each his own… I don’t know

Pets are family members, just like babies. They both poop and barf and do all sorts of gross things. There should be housing available for both people who want pets and people who don’t want pets. As long as the owners take good care of their pets, I don’t understand what the issue is.

Yes, exactly! It’s such a shame that so many landlords assume that pets will destroy their house or something. I hope they’ll one day see sense. Thanks for commenting 🙂
