I’m trying something new here today, perhaps something never done before on a blog.  I’ve never had poetry come to me like this but this one came in two parts and I thought I’d link them together and show you two poems today and tomorrow.  This first poem carries a warning however, it contains contents which could be upsetting to more sensitive readers.  More about this poem at the bottom of this post.  I hope you like it, and tell me what you think of it, and of the subject it’s about.

Why is it always here?
This feeling of shame,
That you always look to me,
As if I am to blame.

Why do you always taunt me?
Make me feel so alone,
As if you only get true pleasure,
When I am torn to bone.

Why do you never love me?
When you look you feel disgust,
You never want me near you,
Never let me be fussed.

Why do you put me here?
Into this dark space,
A nowhere that is dark and cold,
Where I cannot see your face.

Why leave me in darkness?
Alone and so very cold,
Never to see you face again,
Never to grow old.

-Part 2 can be read in tomorrow’s blog post.

So what do you think of this poem, what feelings does it evoke in you?  For me personally animal cruelty is a subject that is close to my heart, I am a deep animal lover and when I hear a story of animals being abused it breaks my heart, I feel it more than some people and this poem came to me when I was feeling pretty low.

What do you think of the poem?  What about the subject of animal cruelty?  Let me know what you think in the comments below 🙂
