Review: This is such a fun book that will make you smile and it has a great message in it too. ‘Kiss the Crocodile’ is a paperback with thick matt pages filled with lots of very colourful illustrations and some text. One day, Anteater, Tortoise and Monkey are playing together. They play lots of different games until one of them spots Crocodile and his mum. Crocodile wants to play with the other animals and they decide to play a new game called ‘Kiss the Crocodile’ where Crocodile will lie asleep and the others have to kiss him without waking him up. But will all the animals manage to Kiss the Crocodile?
The story of this book is a simple one and I have to say that it just made me smile and laugh so much. I won’t go into too much detail but the animals take turns to try to Kiss the Crocodile, most of them succeeding until one of them doesn’t. What happens after that is actually a brilliant ending to the story and I didn’t expect it which was good. The story finishes on a happy note and it has a great message of friendship and enjoying the company of others who you may not have expected to. It’s actually a great message as it teaches kids to not ignore and be distant to others who might be isolated or seem ‘different’.
The illustrations are so fun and it’s why I really love this book. Every page is filled with really vibrant colours and I just love the way all the animals look. I especially love the way Anteater looks, especially when she’s about to Kiss the Crocodile. The pictures in the book really make the story much more fun and funny and they just fit this tale so well.
I’d recommend this book for the funny story and the great message, it is a subtle message but it makes for a lovely ending, especially the last image. A brilliant book and so fun to look at!
