Review: I love this activity book and it’s just brilliant for getting kids engaged with fun and wildlife, especially to do with the sea. This book is about A4 in size and isn’t too big with thick matt pages that are very colourful, and some stickers inside. I have to admit that I bought quite a few similar books like this myself before discovering adult colouring books and I found them really engaging and a lot of fun, this one is just the same and makes me want to dive into colouring right away and I’m sure kids will find it even more fun than me.

The whole book is made up of a few different activities on single or double pages. Each page has a different aspect of seaside life, some feature birds that are around the sea, others show life under the sea, octopus, seahorses, etc. Each page or double page is an activity of a different kind and many involve colouring in and stickers. The activities include mazes, dot-to-dot and spot the different, among other things, and there are lots of opportunities for kids to colour in lots of lovely animals and plants too.

Colouring in the pages would best be done with pencils. The pages are very thick in quality so they could possibly take felt pens but this would only be if they aren’t pressed on for too long, and given the fact they are double sided some pen might leak through so be aware of this when giving it to kids to colour. There are a lot of stickers in the centre of this book, the sheets of which could be pulled out by an adult, as they are in the way of a double page spread about birds. All of the stickers have a page that they belong to but there are plenty of chances to put the stickers where you want to jion each page and there are even extra stickers you can put wherever you like!
Apart from the activities you can do, this book features lots of beautiful pictures of the animals and lots of facts in snippets on every page. There isn’t an overwhelming amount of text, so its aimed at younger children, but there is enough to get kids curious to learn more. The images of the animals are all lovely and cute, not too abstract which I like with nature books and I can’t help but want to colour in the first colouring page myself as it just looks so fun!

I think this is a great book to get kids interested in nature. I do think the book is a little thin though (the only reason I’m taking one strawberry away) and could have had a few more pages with more activities, especially given how much of the book is actually pages of stickers, but it’s still a lovely book and can be opened fully as it doesn’t have a spine – it’s more like a school exercise book in how it’s bound.
Do you like this book? What about other activity books for both kids or adults? Let me know what you think in the comments below 🙂
