August is definitely a bumper month for books, at least for me as I’ve received a huge pile of books just a couple of weeks ago which are due for release this month ( I didn’t show them off last month as I already had three book haul posts for July)! This is actually part one of the book haul as there are supposed to be sent in two seperate parcels, plus they also didn’t all fit in the photos 😂 But as of yet I haven’t received parcel 2…I hope they’re still coming! 😮
As usual the books from Walker Books (thank you to the lovely people who sent them 😀 ) are a mix of picture books, children’s reading and some young adult/teen books too. Let’s begin with the picture books but do check out all the different types of books and let me know if any of them sound particularly interesting to you 🙂 (Descriptions are short ones from Walker Books’ email to me)
Don’t Worry, Little Crab by ChrisHaughton – In the rockpool above the sea, live two crabs: Big Crab and Little Crab. Today, they’re going for a dip in the sea. But then Little Crab catches a glimpse of the water… The waves are ENORMOUS! Will Little Crab be brave enough to go in?
The Dam by David Almond & Levi Pinfold – When a great dam was built by the Kielder Water in Northumberland, the valley below slowly filled with water. But just before this, two musicians went back to the abandoned valley – for this would be the last time that music would be heard in this place.
This Little Piggy by Jarvis – ONE little piggy went to market. TWO little piggies had a car but couldn’t park it! Count from one to ten while wiggling your toes in this goofy twist on the classic nursery rhyme!
The Pigeon HAS to Go to School by Mo Willems – Why does the Pigeon have to go to school? He already knows everything! Well … almost everything. And what if he doesn’t like it? What if the teacher doesn’t like him? I mean, what if he learns TOO MUCH!?!
Children’s reading books:
The Dog Who Lost His Bark by Eoin Colfer & P. J. Lynch – Patrick has been desperate for a dog of his own for a long as he can remember. Oz the dog has suffered at the hands of BAD PEOPLE. Somewhere out there, he believes, is an AWESOME BOY – his BOY. Maybe when they find each other he will learn to BARK again…
Between Worlds: Folktales from Britain & Ireland by Kevin Crossley-Holland & Frances Castle – Rich and strange, these eerie and magical folktales from across Britain and Ireland have been passed down from generation to generation, and are gathered together in a definitive new collection.
Kids Fight Plastic by Martin Dorey & Tim Wesson – Plastic is everywhere. It is in the rivers and it is in the sea. We need superheroes to fight plastic and help save our oceans. Find out how you can become a #2minutesuperhero by completing 50 missions to fight plastic at home, school and on your days out.
Teen/young adult books:
Chaos Walking Boxed Set by Patrick Ness – Prentisstown isn’t like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else’s thoughts in a constant, overwhelming Noise. There is no privacy. There are no secrets. Then Todd Hewitt unexpectedly stumbles on a spot of complete silence. Which is impossible. And now he’s going to have to run…
This is an exciting bundle and I’m still hoping to show you more books which I hope Walker will be sending this month 😀 For now, let me know what you think of this bundle. as always reviews will be appearing on this blog in the weeks to come, but when it comes to boxed sets I tend to review both the boxed set seperately from the individual books so I hope you’re looking forward to that 🙂
Which books out of this haul are you interested in reading? What other books are you interested in reading this month or are there any new releases you are keen on reading? Let me know what you think in the comments below?
