Today there is a special announcement on my blog, an author interview and a bit of a promo post (which I’m volunteering to do), about a book series I’m already excitedly reading and would love to share with everyone. The Silent Sea Chronicles is a trilogy of fantasy books from author Suzanne Rogerson. I’ve so far read the first two books in the series and they have been amazing (links to my reviews below) and I’m sure the third book will be equally brilliant wrapping up what is an amazing, emotional and epic fantasy tale. Today is a special day though as now you can own the entire box set of the Silent Sea Chronicles trilogy, all three books (that’s The Lost Sentinel, The Sentinel’s Reign, and The Sentinel’s Alliance) all on Kindle for just UK £0.99 US $0.99 (and the same low price on amazon Worldwide!). This offer will last for just a week (before going up in price to £6.99), so get your hands on the box set while you can! 🙂
Before we continue with a special interview with the author, I just want to share with you the book blurb for the box set:
Silent Sea Chronicles Book Blurb:
Tei has magic in a world where people like her are persecuted and forced into exile. Whilst fleeing their home, her father is attacked and his deathbed confession reveals a dangerous secret that will change her life forever.
Tei’s homeland, the magical island of Kalaya, is dying and without a Sentinel to restore the magic, it’s only a matter of time before all life is wiped out.
She must join the exiles in the search for the lost Sentinel, but they are not the only ones after the missing guardian. Sinister Masked Riders are on their trail and time is running out.
Tei must risk everything she loves to save Kalaya, but is she ready to make that sacrifice?
1396 pages of magic, adventure and intrigue.
This epic fantasy box set contains:
The Lost Sentinel – Book 1
The Sentinel’s Reign – Book 2
The Sentinel’s Alliance – Book 3

Author Interview
To celebrate the release of the box set today, I asked author Suzanne Rogerson if she wouldn’t mind answering a few questions about the series and herself 🙂 :
Now that I’ve finished the trilogy and published the box set, I feel a little lost; Silent Sea Chronicles was my focus for so long that it’s hard to let go of it now.
I’m proud to have completed the work, amazed that I accomplished a trilogy of 14k kindle pages and daunted by the idea of doing it all again!
There are pros and cons to writing either a series or a standalone. With a standalone everything can be wrapped up in one volume, whereas the series must have story threads running through each book. In some ways I found the series easier because I knew the characters so well that it made it much easier to write, but I also loved the fact I could write a single story in a standalone and then move on to something new.
I enjoyed writing both forms and will continue to write more of both, though at this moment I need a break from a big project.
I was inspired by the state of our world; how humans are contributing to global warming and animals becoming extinct, how we’re cutting down rain forests and depleting the world’s natural resources as well as all the crimes against humanity and people forced to become refugees.
In Tei’s world magic and its users are exiled. They are blamed for the failing crops when in fact it’s mans ignorance that’s causing all the problems. By working together they can find a solution to save their dying island but the ruling bodies are standing in the way.
A challenge I always find with writing any book is time. Finding the right balance between writing time and how much time I put into marketing the books that are already published is difficult. During the trilogy I also struggled with the idea that I had published books 1 and 2 and book 3 wasn’t even written! That scared me a lot, but then the magic of writing took over and watching the story take shape seemingly without any planning was wonderful. I love how book 3 turned out.
I love all my characters so it’s hard to pick favourites. But I love a selfless hero, so characters like Undren and Garrick always have a special place in my heart. And I love bad guys who are not what they first seem. In Silent Sea Chronicles, Nadan’s story has always been one I wanted to explore. He’s the leader of the Masked Riders hunting down the exiles, but there is clearly another side to his story and something in his past that I couldn’t wait to write about.
I’m halfway through a standalone novel with a working title Child of Destiny. It may well become a dual timeline story like Visions of Zarua but it’s hard to know if that will work until I’ve finished the book. With a new puppy in the house I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to write but I’d love to have the draft finished by the end of the year.
Now that the Silent Sea Chronicles is published in a box set, I also want to write the prequel and start coming up with plans for future books set within the magical islands. Who knows what adventures are in store for Tei and her friends? I don’t, but I can’t wait to find out…
Thank you so much Suzanne for taking the time to answer these questions! 😀 🙂
Praise already for the Silent Sea Chronicles
Now, although Suzanne Rogerson is a friend of mine through blogging, I don’t just automatically praise people’s books because they are my friends. I’m an honest book reviewer and I wouldn’t be able to keep this blog up if I wasn’t very honest about every book I read, regardless of whether I know the person who wrote it or not. But the fact is that I simply LOVE this series (as well as Suzanne’s other standalone fantasy novel), and I’d like to share with you my reviews for the first two books in the series so you can make make up your own mind whether you’d like to buy and read it (which at the current price you really should, if you like fantasy!). I’ll be adding the third review here as soon as I’ve read the book!:
Silent Sea Chronicles (book 1) – The Lost Sentinel review
Silent Sea Chronicles (book 2) – The Sentinel’s Reign review
Don’t just take my word for how good these books are though, there is lots of praise out there already for the series. Please visit Amazon or Goodreads to see the praise that this book series already has already had as well as Suzanne Rogerson’s website for some links to reviews already out there (I don’t want to post all the praise here as this blog post is already getting a bit long 😉 ). There are a lot of people who have enjoyed the series and so far I haven’t seen one person that hasn’t! 😀
Thank you for checkout out this blog post today, and I hope you don’t mind a bit of a promotional post here. Seeing as it’s a book series I love, I thought it would be alright to share the news of the box set’s release 🙂 Below is the buy link again to get hold of the box set (remember the price will go up after a week) as well as more information on the brilliant and lovely author Suzanne Rogerson.
Author Profile & Links
Suzanne lives in Middlesex, England with her husband, two children, a highly strung cat and a crazy puppy.
Her writing journey began at the age of twelve when she completed her first novel. She discovered the fantasy genre in her late teens and has never looked back. Giving up work to raise a family gave Suzanne the impetus to take her attempts at novel writing beyond the first draft, and she is lucky enough to have a husband who supports her dream – even if he does occasionally hint that she might think about getting a proper job one day.
Now an author of four novels including the recently completed Silent Sea Chronicles trilogy and a Czech translation of her debut, Visions of Zarua, Suzanne hopes the dreaded ‘W’ word will never rear its ugly head again!
She loves gardening and has a Hebe (shrub) fetish. She enjoys cooking with ingredients from the garden and regularly feeds unsuspecting guests vegetable-based cakes.
Suzanne collects books, is interested in history and enjoys wandering around castles and old ruins whilst being immersed in the past. She likes to combine her love of nature and photography on family walks, but most of all she loves to escape with a great film, binge watch TV shows, or soak in a hot bubble bath with an ice cream and a book.

The part about being inspired to write because of extinction and global warming hits hard with me. We need more art focusing on this issue especially with today’s political climate. Great interview!

Thank you and you’re very right, there’s not been as much focus on it considering how big an issue it’s become. Especiall ywith some politician’s these days seeming to regress in the environmentalism message that’s been going on in the last couple of decades!
