Today I have some poetry for you which is appropriate for this time or year, especially if you live in the northern hemisphere and are experiencing the ever growing colder days as we head towards winter.ย I know I’ve been sharing a lot of old poetry lately but this poem is brand new and I do hope you like it ๐ย Let me know if anything from this poem resonates with you โค ๐
As Days Fall Quiet
ยฉThe Strawberry Post
A beautiful day,
A wondrous sight,
As days fall quiet,
Losing their light.
Bright greens and reds,
Turn into browns,
Crisp and crunch.
Swept out of towns.
Winds turn bold,
Chilling to core,
Skin now uncorvered,
Left red and sore.
Wrapping round layers,
As trees now go bare,
Others stay clothed,
Bright lights they now wear.
Coming together,
Resting by fire,
Creatures outside,
Safe or expire.
As bitter winds blow,
No escape from dark,
As crystals of white,
Make world look stark.
Making, preparing
For one special day,
Imaginging, hoping,
To enjoy and play.
The beautiful dark,
That magical night,
A time to make wishes,
Smile, sing, reunite.
How does this poem make you feel?ย What does it remind you of?ย Are you looking forward to any special occassions in the winter or do you not like the days getting colder?ย Let me know what you think in the comments below ๐
I think your poem illustrates the changing from Autumn to Winter beautifully. I also love how you put the hints of the approaching holidays in there, without turning it in to an actual Christmas poem or anything.

Great poem, well done! Funny we both put poems on our blogs about winter, except yours is positive and mine is grumpy ๐

Thank you ๐ Lol, your poem is really great. I think winter’s a time of both misery and beauty, besides my poem’s only about the time up to Christmas, beyond that it’s just miserably grey and cold, lol

Totally agree, there are two sides to winter. I actually prefer colder weather but I hate when it rains and also the viruses that go around!
January is probably my least favourite month, it seems depressing.

Yes, I hate January too, it’s the month furthest away from the warmth of the autmn or spring, and it’s definitely not a time I really feel like setting resolutions to get fit or anything, all I want to do is stay warm under my duvet, lol Ugh, viruses… ๐ฆ

So I always look forward to March, when everything starts to seem brighter ๐
