Today I’m going to be doing a short tag called The Finished Book Tag which is all about what you do when you’ve finished reading a book. 🙂  Thank you so much to Danni from _ForBooksSake (love that blog name 😀 ) for tagging me.  Go check out her blog, it’s brilliant. 🙂  Anyway, without further ado, here’s a short tag all about what I do when I’ve finished reading a book…

1 – Do you keep a list of the books you have read?

No.  I really should though, especially after I’ve seen some bloggers being able to look back through diaries and see exactly what they read and when.  The only lists I have are one with all the ARCs (advanced reader copies) and books I’ve gotten for review, but that’s a random list that I just tick off a book when I’ve read it.  But the only other list I have is the one now made on Goodreads, although the dates aren’t always accurate as I’m not there often enough to update exactly when I read what. 😮

2 – If you record statistics, what statistics do you record?

I don’t, but if I did I think I’d just put when I read it, what rating I gave it, or a few words on whether I liked it.

3 – Do you give star ratings for books and if so, what do you score books out of and how do you come about this score?

Yes I always rate books these days and it’s always a score of 1-5 with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best.  I like to score in sweet strawberries to go with my blog’s name 🙂 🍓  What rating a book gets depends on how I feel about it.  A 5 usually means it was brilliant and I have little bad to say about it.  4 means it was good but maybe something was off for me.  A 3 rating is in the middle, I don’t dislike the book but I wasn’t a fan of it either.  A 2 is a book that I didn’t like and a 1 is a book I really didn’t enjoy.  But my rating still feels a bit personal and depends on the way I feel when I’ve finished reading a book.

4 – Do you review books?

Yes, I’m sure most people reading this know that 😉  I like write reviews and I suspect this might sound strange to some bloggers who struggle to write up their reviews, but I find it pretty easy to write up my reviews and don’t spend too much time doing it, especially as I do them as quickly as possible after reading the book.  The longer I leave it, the tougher I find it to review a book, although there sometimes are certain books that are hard to review regardless, just something about how amazing they are sometimes makes me also not know how to express my awe of that book, lol.

5 – Where do you put your finished books?

It depends on where they came from.  If they were on my book shelf then they go back to where they were.  If they were a library book then obviously back to the library (obviously) and if they were one of the books that are currently on my ARC tbr (to be read) pile from publishers/authors which is kept seperate from other books, then these will either join my book shelves (if I have space) or recently what’s been happening is that most of them end up in boxes or get given away to people I know if they are books that I’m not interested in reading again.

6 – Do you have any other rituals for when you have finished a book?

I usually need to take a bit of time away from reading for the rest of the day if I’ve just finished a fiction book, especially if it was a particularly gripping one.  I usually do some non-reading activities, to really take my mind off the book (after writing my review).  I do sometimes start a new book, but it usually has to be a different kind (for a different age, genre or non-fiction/ficiton) depending on what I read.  The only exception is if a book was very disappointing and then I actually feel like reading something new straight away, to get rid of the disappointment of the other book, lol.  But I always feel the need to read only after I’ve written my review.  I just fel compelled to write it and don’t feel right if I tried reading before writing up a review.  It’s like the review is a part of the book and I have to finish it in order to completely finish ‘reading’ that book!

So that’s it!  That was a fun and short tag about what happens when I finish reading a book!  If you feel like doing this tag then please feel free, and don’t forget to put a link in your post to mine so I can see your answers, or just comment here that you’ve done the tag so I can see your answers.  I’m not going to tag anyone specific as I know there are people who’d love to do this and people who wouldn’t so just have fun and enjoy either way.  Let me know if we have anything in common when it comes to finishing reading a book.  Have a great day everyone! 🙂 ❤

Do we have anything in common when it comes to finishing books?  What would you answer?  Let me know what you think in the comments below 🙂
