Today’s poem is one I wrote a long time ago, so I don’t quite know how it sounds to others, but it’s one which still resonates with me, and has an…interesting twist at the end! Though the poem is more about people, I do feel that the term façade is one that stirs up thoughts and makes me, and maybe others, question the world around us today, especially as we now live in a world where fake news dominates easily and finding out the truth can sometimes be very difficult.
Let me know how the poem makes you feel and if you have any wider thoughts about truths and façades. It’s certainly something I’ve been pondering in recent weeks, maybe due to the weirdness around the situation we face but I can’t help but wonder if we are really being told everything we should know or whether our media is picking and choosing what we should focus on…something they’ve probably always done, though it’s become much more obvious in recent months. Maybe it’s just me but having the opportunity these last few weeks to browse the wider web and reflect internally has opened my mind to many new perspectives on life…🤔🧐🙃😊
The Façade
©The Strawberry Post
You hid it very well,
Thought yourself so clever,
You believed that I,
Would suspect it never.
Continued to smile,
Biding your time,
All of the while,
Committing your crime.
Boring a hole,
Right from the start,
Tried hard to reach,
To destroy my heart.
But you didn’t know,
The real truth I saw.
You made a mistake,
A real fatal flaw.
I saw right through,
Your clever façade,
Would not let you,
Leave me scarred.
So did what I did,
On that very day,
To make you leave,
Finally go away.
But I’ll never be asked,
How or even why,
Beacuse unlike you,
I know how to lie.

Clever poem, and a good one.
I agree it’s become much more obvious recently that the media isn’t being honest, and that those at the top tell us only what they want us to hear – true or not. I think that becoming more obvious has contributed to the panic causing people to act so poorly during this situation.
