Today is National Poetry Day in the UK and I’m celebrating with a poem I’ve written which is on the theme of ‘Vision’.  I didn’t know that National Poetry day had a theme until this year (oops!) but I got out my pen and paper and jotted this poem down after having a good think about stuff that’s been happening.  In fact it’s kind of been cathartic to write this after holding onto a lot of emotions the last few weeks.  I hope you like it even if it doesn’t make much sense to you, not all my poems always do.

Happy Poetry Day everyone and if you’d like to check out more of my poems just click on this link here where you’ll find all my poems so far posted on this blog (there’s quite a lot of them! 😀 ).  I write a mix of happier fun poems and darker poems which could upset some people if you’re not in the right mood, but these ones are often my most powerful so I hope you might want to check some of them out. 🙂  As for the poem below, it’s a mix of darker poem and a lighter one.  Let me know what you think of it. 🙂

Vision of Truth

©The Strawberry Post

I know the truth now, I didn’t before,
Saw through the lies, I now know the score.
You remade the world, took out all the good,
Created it to be, how you thought it should.

I see what you did, it’s now been made clear,
The way you manipulate, add pain and fear.
Tomenting the souls, of all that you touch,
Make them believe, that you are their crutch.

You made up a lie, pushed it as truth,
Made them all panic, so they could not sleuth.
Saw it as danger, a clever disguise,
Made them too scared, to open their eyes.

Afraid of something, too small to see,
But who is really scared, is it you or is it me?
Keeping in shadows, obscuring the light,
But you know the truth, we will stand up fight.

Vision is brighter, one day they’ll know,
The lies that you told, untruths that you’d sow.
It’s too late to hide, the truth of your fake,
Because now we are seeing, we are awake.
