Today I’ve got something a little different for you. Today I’m taking part in the blog tour for the audiobook of The Therapist by B. A Paris. A big thank you to Sian from Harper Collins for the chance to be a part of this tour. Now the blog tour is a little different than the usual tours I’ve been on as I have an extract of the audiobook for you to listen to, (as well as a brief author interview/question!) but the extract is very short and part of a set of extracts which have been released all this week, starting with the author who released the first extract on Monday. You can find out more about the book in a moment but first let’s listen to today’s extract (the last but arguable the best 😉 ) which I’ve released on twitter first so please see my tweet below and click the play button to listen to it, it’s just 2 minutes long. (I would have posted the audio file here on the blog directly as well as on twitter but WordPress won’t allow audio files on a free plan🙄)
Doesn’t it sound interesting already? You can follow the whole blog tour chain with different extracts of the book to listen to, although I have to say I think this extract is the most interesting and eerie! Just who did she meet? I’ll post more about the book below in a moment as well as the blog tour banner which is very long and tall, but first there is a brief audio interview, one question, which I wanted to post here on the blog along with this post. Unfortunately both mp4 and mp3 files are not supported on WordPress so I hope the publisher doesn’t mind that I’ve written out the whole interview as I heard it in the audio file, word for word. I just thought it was a brilliant question for any author and I love the answer B. A. Paris gives 🙂 …
If I wasn’t a writer what would I be?
I suppose if I hadn’t started writing when I did, which was fifty, I would probably have carried on being a teacher. But I hope then that if I hadn’t realised my dream of being a writer, I would have realised the other dream that I had which has been (maybe I will still do it one day), I would love to own a second-hand book shop with a tea room attached because I absolutely love baking. I love baking cakes, I’ve been making them all my life for my daughters, and I’ve always wanted to have a tea room.
So with the second-hand book shop where people come in and sit on lovely comfortable sofas and take a book and order tea, and cake, and just read the book and then take it home with them if they wanted to, and not bring it back, or bring it back and replace it with another one. I would love to do that. So who knows, maybe in a few years time, in ten years time, if I ever get fed up of writing, or maybe I could do the writing at the same time, I don’t know. So hopefully I will have a tea room and a second-hand book shop.
About the Book
Tell me your secrets….
When Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in The Circle, a gated community of exclusive houses, it is everything they’ve dreamed of. But appearances can be deceptive….
As Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating, grisly secret about her new home – and begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist who lived there before.
Alice becomes obsessed with trying to piece together what happened two years before. But no one wants to talk about it. Her neighbours are keeping secrets, and things are not as perfect as they seem….
The million-copy Sunday Times best-selling author B A Paris returns to her heartland of gripping psychological suspense in this powerful tale of a house that holds a shocking secret.
