Due to recent events I’m not able to commit as much time to the blog for the next few days or weeks so today I’m sharing some of my older poetry I wrote a few years ago.  The words still resonates strongly with me and this particular poem was written about someone I know who broke free from the situation they were in and I’m so proud of them.  I hope you like the poem even though it’s a little darker.  It does have a good ending though and it’s not as dark as some poems which I will be sharing here too. 😮 🙂

You think I do not know you,
You think I’m someone I’m not.
You believe I don’t remember,
When in truth I never forgot.

You imagine someone different,
You imagine someone weak.
You believe she would not dare.
When in truth she’s able to speak.

You thought you could hit her,
You thought she wasn’t strong.
You wanted to control her,
When in truth she didn’t belong.

You do not know what’s real,
You think it’s all a game.
You like to say it’s my fault
When in truth I’m not to blame.

I’ve had enough of this life,
I’m tired of being this way.
I will never let you near me,
When you try to ruin my day.

I won’t allow another minute,
I’m sick of living your life.
Today’s my day of freedom,
The day I stop being your wife.
