Sunshine Blogger Award two

Are you a night owl or morning lark?

I would like to be a morning lark but unfortunately I’m definitely a night owl.  I don’t function particularly well in the mornings and it’s not until lunchtime that my brain ‘wakes up’ and I can do anything that requires thinking a lot.  I can function well into the night sometimes but recently I’ve been faling asleep whenever it’s dark so maybe my body is trying to make me into a morning lark even if I don’t want it. 😅😂

What’s one thing that you’d like to accomplish in your life?

Write and publish a book.  It’s been a dream of mine to write something ever since I was at school but I’ve found it hard to settle on the story I want to write.  To be honest my experiences in the past at school really dented my confidence in my fiction writing, to the point that for many years later, though I would write, I never really took it seriously that I could write something worthy of being published.  After many years of blogging I am starting to gain my confidence back, but I still haven’t actually settled down and written a substantial amount yet, mainly because these days I keep getting so many ideas for different plots, I’m not sure which one to start with! 😛

What features/characteristics do you judge a person?

I try not to judge a person at all as I’ve found in life, often the way people seem on first impression isn’t the way they are in reality.  I’ve had people judge me in the past as being very different from the way I am, so maybe that’s where I get the idea not to judge from.  I think sometimes people put on a cold expression on their faces and sometimes I have judged them to be cold or unpleasant on first glance, but then I spotted myself doing it in the reflection of a train window one day when I was deep in thought about someting, so I now try to assume the best in everyone no matter how they look or act. 🙂

What is your guilty pleasure TV show?

I don’t watch mych tv these days, I’m not sure why but I’ve watched a lot less tv in the last two and a half years than I used to before that.  I do enjoy watching things like The Great British Bake Off, though, but I won’t say I feel guilty of it because I don’t. 🙂  If you’d asked me this question twenty years ago though, I would have embarrasingly have to admit that I used to really be into watching Big Brother! 😮

Who are you emotionally closest to?

I think my mum is someone I’ve been emotionally close to the most in my life.  My life was a bit rocky as a child with lots of things happening and moving house a lot when I was young.  With all of that happening I found it hard to connect with people for a while, but mum has always been there for me and we are very close that we talk all the time about everything and she’s definitely my rock.  I now have other people in my life I’m close to emotionally too, but definitely I’m still close to my mum after all these years.

What’s your idea of a perfect date?

I like the idea of going to somewhere like the cinema with a trip to the coffee shop later for a drink.  I like having something to talk about, and the cinema or a theatre show gives you the chance to relax in someone’s company without too much pressure to talk at once.  I’m not a fan of a dinner date as I’m one of those people who will get food stuck in my teeth or slurp or spill sauce by accident. 😅

If you were given an all-expenses-paid trip to visit a famous landmark, which would you choose?

The Great Pyramid in Egypt or the Sphinx!  Ancient Egypt was the first historical time period that I fell in love with and I have always wanted to vist these landmarks to see them up close.  Of course if it was all expenses paid then I’d like the chance to tour inside them too.  The Great pyramid being fascinating because it’s different from the other pyramids near by and begs the question was it just a tomb or something more.  And I’m fascinated by the Sphinx just because it’s the Sphinx and you have to wonder if that was is original face and what could possibly be inside it or beneath it! 😄

What material item can you not live without?

This is a tricky one, I haven’t thought of this.  I’m not someone who’s attached to my phone (unlike some, I can actually put it down for a whole day or more and not look at it – yes it’s true! 😮 ), but I don’t know if I can live without it entirely or at least some kind of computer or internet connection these days.  Apart from blogging which is a big part of my life at the moment, I also use the internet to connect to friends and family.  Also computer games have been a part of my life and a way for me to cheer up out of depressive moods for more than two decades!  It’s also the tool for writing anything (my brain thinks too fast to write things down physically these days!) and I want to be an author one day so I think I’d say a computer, or a phone which is essentially a handheld computer, but I really do prefer a computer as I can seriously put down my phone for long periods but I struggle to be away from my computer for a long time.

If you were granted your own national holiday, how would people be told to spend/celebrate it?

Wow, what a question! 😀  I would definitely want people to be happy so I’d say people should play happy music, maybe 80s to 90s pop music as that’s my favourite music!  I’d also want people to play fun silly board games or videogames and most importantly just relax and have a happy time with friends and family.  Eat what you like, don’t worry about anything in the world for one day and just enjoy life! 🙂

What can make your day better?

Seeing any animal.  Without my own pet at the moment my only choice for seeing animals is to go outside to the local park or see the neighbour’s cats and dogs  I also sometimes look up cute and funny animal videos and pics online.  I follow a fair few cat channels on YouTube (mostly Asian ones) and those animals are shown so much by their loving owners that you start to fall in love with them and they brighten up your day.  But there’s nothing better than having your own pet, or going outside to the park and seeing the squirrel , ducks or fish in the pond as well as people’s pets! 🙂

Do you have a good luck charm? If so, who or what is it?

This is interesting.  I’m not sure if I have a good luck charm at the moment, maybe I should do though.  When I was studying my exams at school and then college I did have a blue beaded bracelet I insisted on wearing to every exam as I thought about it as my good luck/calming charm.  It must have worked because I didn’t get lower than a C in any exam and got mostly Bs and As, but when I stopped studying I stopped wearing the bracelet.  Time for me to get another one maybe?…🤔☺️

Blog I nominate:

I’m always a little apprehensive of nominating anyone as I want the people nominated to not feel pressured to do the award if they don’t want to, but likewise I also don’t want to leave out someone who wanted to be nominated and who wasn’t.  So, while I’ll nominate some amazing bloggers here, if you’d like to do this award with my questions then please do even if you aren’t nominated, and if you are but don’t feel like it that’s fine too. 🙂 ❤

  8. What music do you like to listen to?
  9. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
  10. (I’m re-using this one because I think it’s such a brilliant question) If you were granted your own national holiday, how would people be told to spend/celebrate it?
  11. (Here’s one I always ask authors in interviews) If you could live in any book which would it be and why?

What do you think of this award?  What would your answers be to my questions or the ones I was asked?  Let me know what you think in the comments below 🙂
