Review:  This is a lovely and fun story.  Bob the dog is a very busy dog, she’s always busy doing chores around the house while Pat the cat, who lives with Bob, loves to relax.  One day Bob hears the tinkling sound of an ice cream van and wants to get a job selling ice cream.  She visits lots of ice cream trucks which are parked, asking each in turn if she can have a job.  One of the van owners says yes, but when Bob begins selling ice cream, there’s a problem with the nozzle on the ice cream machine, and Bob has to get creative to solve the problem.

I really enjoyed this story of Bob the dog finding a job as an ice cream seller.  Bob’s excitement at selling ice cream was fun to see and when she finally gets a job selling, she’s very careful, clean,  and good at it.  I like what happens when Bob encounters a problem with the ice cream nozzle and it gets stuck.  The paperback book is wider than A4 in size and is filled with colourful illustrations and text on thick matt paper.  The story is such a fun and simple one and I like how Bob is always so busy and enthusiastic.

After the ice cream nozzle sticks and ice cream starts pouring out too fast, Bob has to get creative with how she serve the ice cream.  The story finishes well and I really enjoyed the different things Bob creates and that last page with Pat the Cat too!  The illustrations are all lovely, I love how Bob looks, always so busy but happy.  The expressions on the characters faces are good and I like the fun pictures showing lots of different customers and ice cream sellers too, the way they all look, and the way the ice creams look, especially the later creations Bob ends up making.

The whole story is such a fun and simple one but so perfect.  I love how the story shows Bob being extra hygienic while making the ice creams as well.  The story is lovely and fun and it’s one I’m sure children will enjoy looking at more than once.
