A FAMILY GATHERING
This Christmas the Miller siblings have one goal – to avoid their familiy’s well-meaning questions.  Ross, Alice and Clemmie have secrets that they don’t intend to share, and they are relying on each other to deflect attention.
AN UNINVITED GUEST
Lucy Clarke is facing a Christmas alone, and the prospect of losing her job – unless she can win a major piece of business from Ross Miller.  She’ll deliver her proposal to his family home in the Scottish Highlands and then leave.  After all, she wouldn’t want to intrude on the Miller’s perfect family Christmas.
A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER
When Lucy appears on the Miller’s snow-coverred doorstep, she is mistaken for Ross’s girlfriend.  But by the time the confusion is clearled up, a storm has hit and Lucy is stuck.  As everyone settles in for a snowed-in Christmas, tensions bubble to the surface and suddenly Lucy finds herself facing a big famiily fall-out with a family that isn’t hers…

Review:  Oh wow what a wonderful Christmas feel-good book, I can’t believe how much I’ve enjoyed reading this!  Lucy works in marketing and wants to secure the business of the owner of Miller Active, Ross Miller who is spending Christmas with his family in Scotland.  Lucy knows she has one chance to impress Ross and the only way to do that is to get her proposal to Ross before any other agencies do.  So while on a trip to Scotland for another business, Lucy heads to Ross’s family’s lodge, but when she arrives to hand in her proposal the Miller family mistake her for Ross’s new girlfriend and by the time the mistake is cleared up something happens and Lucy ends up stuck in the run up to Christmas with the whole Miller family, including Ross who isn’t so happy to see her.

This is such a brilliant book, I just couldn’t put this down after I started reading!  The story is told from multiple points of view with alternating chapters, though always written in the third person perspective, and I like how we get to know Lucy’s story along with Glenda, Clemmie and Alice’s too.  The first chapter begins with Lucy and we learn why her job is so important to her and why she’s so determined to get the business of Ross Miller for her agency.  In the following chapters we also learn about Alice and Clemmie’s own problems, both sisters of Ross Miller, as well as Glenda their mother and the book alternates between these four viewpoints showing us each of the women’s own individual takes and what happens especially when everyone gets to the lodge and tensions rise.

I love the family dynamic in the Miller house.  Alice and Clemmie’s own stories are interesting and I like how different both are but also how they are both dealing with their own issues around their relationships with others.  In the meantime we find out through their chapters more about Ross and how the sisters end up suggesting that he make up a fictitious girlfriend to take the heat off of their own problems during the family Christmas where secrets are difficult to keep.  Obviously things go a bit wrong and when Lucy arrives at the lodge and everyone else is there too I like how she gets mistaken for Ross’s girlfriend and what happens after she gets stuck staying at the lodge.  The story is so good in parts even though certain areas of thetale are a bit predictable.  It was mostly Clemmie’s story that I found easy to predict although I didn’t know everything that would happen, but I like what happens to her especially and I also love the family drama that ensues after Lucy ends up at the ledge too and this book put a smile on my face and made me laugh out loud more than once thanks to how silly some things get.

I love the character of Nanna Jean.  Her directness and the things she does and says at times made me laugh so much.  In fact it was Nanna Jean’s moments that made me laugh the most and I love how bold she is in parts of the story and how caring she is of her family too.  The relationships between the different family members are interesting too and I like how they all end up bickering sometimes over things.  It felt like a real family and the dialogue was especially good at times with the whole family talking on top of each other and things getting out of hand.  There are some lovely moments in the story and I particularly enjoyed reading Clemmie’s chapters as we find out about why she left Scotland to begin with and what she really wants when she returns home, an did like how things resolve for everyone in the end of the book as a whole with the final chapters really making me smile so much as they are so heart-warming too.  There are a couple moments of brief sex in the book which isn’t too descriptive but it’s there, but there’s nothing else that might upset anyone reading and this book and overall it’s just a lovely feel-good read for me.

The ending is so perfect, I love how everything resolves for all the characters and it’s just the perfect ending to the story on the whole.  The book does have an exclusive look at the new Sarah Morgan book that’s coming up in May and I have to say that I have really enjoyed reading this one.  Up until now I’ve never picked up a book by Sarah Morgan before but now I feel like I want to read them all!  This book is the perfect one to read for the Christmas period, or any time of year you enjoy reading Christmassy books, and the story has the most magical and perfect snowy Christmassy setting too!  A wonderful feel-good romance and one I’ll definitely be reading again in future. 🙂
