Today I’m excited to share with you some book post from Harper360YA for a title that isn’t out until January but one I’m so excited to star reading! 🙂  A huge thank you to Nina for a copy of this book as well as the pubisher, and I have to say I wasn instantly drawn to this book due to it partly being set in the 90s, a decade I’m always nostalgic about because it’s when I grew up! 🙂  Let’s first take a look at what came in the post…

Nine Liars by Maureen Johnson – SEVEN SUSPECTS.  TWO MURDERS.  ONE KILLER STILL PLAYING A DEADLY GAME.
Senior year at Ellingham Academy isn’t going well for Stevie Bell.  Her boyfriend, David, is studying in London.  Her friends are obsessed with college applications.  With the cold case of the century solved, Stevie is adrift.  There is nothing to distract her from the questions pinging around her brain – questions about college, love, and life in general.
Relief comes when David invites Stevie and her friends to join him for study abroad, and his new friend Izzy introduces Stevie to a double-murder cold case.  In 1995, nine friends from Cambridge University went to a country house and played a drunken game of hide-and-seek.  Two were found in the woodshed the next day, murdered with an axe.  The case was assumed to be a burglary gone wrong, but one of the remaining seven saw something she can’t explain.  This was no break-in.  Someone’s lying about what happened in the woodshed.
The fifth book in the hilarious series starring Stevie Bell is another pulse pounding mystery by bestselling author Maureen Johnson.

Now here’s a picture of the back of the book…

As you can see, although the book looks like a finished version it’s not for resale (book proofs never are) and what makes this a proof rather than a finished copy could be because inside the first pages where the copyright information is, which includes where it was printed and a library number, all suggest it was printed and is for the American market!  However there’s also a printed bit at the bottom that says it was printed in the UK too.  Printed in both countries!😂  I love these details that make proof copies so different from finished ones.  It’s why I cherish them even more than final copies of books! 😀  Now let’s take a closer look at the object that came with the book, did you guess what it is?…

This is indeed a magnifying glass, a small golden one you can add to any key chain/fob.  I actually love this as it really is a working magnifying glass and considering this is a mystery novel, it’s very apt.  And just to show you how well this works, check out this next picture! 😀 …

I can’t wait to start reading this book, there’s a map inside😍 and the fact it’s partly set in 1995 in the UK just makes me all the more interested to read this! 😀  Nine Liars isn’t out until 5th January 2023 and I’ll be reviewing it as soon as I’m able to close to that date, so please do look out for that review coming on the blog in the new year. 🙂
