Review:  This is such a lovely picture book about a sweet black cat that goes on an adventure to find a new home.  Fluffy lives on a farm, among lots of other cats.  The cats are his family, but Fluffy doesn’t like living on the farm because all the other cats make too much noise.  Poor Fluffy just wants somewhere warm and safe to sleep so he sneaks into the farmhouse one day, but after being shooed away, he ends up curling on a pile of leaves and going to sleep.  Soon it snows, and snows so much that Fluffy finds himself lost.  The picture book is about as wide as an A4 paper but square in shape and is filled with lots of thick glossy pages of some really lovely illustrations and text.

The story is such a lovely one with us first seeing Fluffy in his home at the farm amongst all the other farm cats.  After Fluffy stays outside and falls asleep, it snows and I love what happens next as Fluffy ends up wandering around and eventually discovers some interesting places to go where there is food.  I don’t want to spoil the story, but it’s a fun one showing how a stray cat ends up eventually finding a new home in a particular house in a village.  What makes this story more special is the fact that it’s based on the true story of the author’s own cat, which you can read about at the end of the book, and I just love how such a simple story of Fluffy eventually wandering around seemingly lost and then finding some food ends up fiishing so well and it’s just so lovely to see, especially with the illustrations.

The pictures in this book are just perfect and really capture the atmosphere and how cute Fluffy is!  I love how each picture looks and how all the cats look, especially on the farm and later how Fluffy looks when he’s on his own in the shed, all alone, and of course later on when he finds a new home.  I just love the page when Fluffy wakes up in the snow, that one was particularly fun to look at, and each illustrations really captures the way the places must look from a cats point of view and I love how well Fluffy’s expressions are shown too, so realistic in how cats look but also so cute.  The illustrations really do capture the real look of a cat and they really make the story so much more special to read!

Overall this is a lovely picture book which has a lovely story and the perfect ending.  I would recommend this book to anyone who loves cats but it’s also a lovely book for those that don’t, showing how a cat can find a new home with the right family.  It’s a lovely story and I’m sure many will want to look at this book again and again.  It’s such a lovely book and one I just can’t stop looking at! 🙂
